French Mammograms
Why Mammograms Are Important-French
Mammograms are the single most effective tool in the early detection of breast cancer and are proven to save lives. Early detection enables doctors to implement a treatment plan before symptoms begin, improving the odds for a positive result.
Women who are regularly screened for breast cancer have a 47% lower risk of dying from the disease compared to those who don't. And with early detection, the five-year survival rate is nearly 100%.
When should I get screened?
Women of average risk for breast cancer should follow the recommended screening guidelines according to age:
- Age 40: Have the conversation with your primary care provider about breast cancer screening. Begin yearly mammograms based on their clinical recommendation and your preference.
- Age 50: Consult with your provider and determine whether you should continue yearly screening or switch to mammograms every two years.
Women with a family history of breast cancer or other high-risk factors are encouraged to have a conversation with their provider before the age of 40.
If you experience signs or symptoms of breast disease at any age, please alert your provider right away.
