"OSF HealthCare is devoted to providing care to all those in need while promoting compassion and kindness," Dr. Wherley said. "I am looking forward to being in a hospital-based clinic where I can utilize the wide range of specialties to provide my patients the best care. I am drawn to rural medicine, so Pontiac is a perfect fit."

Dr. Wherley was drawn to medicine because of the challenges and opportunities it provides him to give back to the community.

"I grew up in Central Illinois (Eureka) and graduated from the Rural Medicine Program and UIC-Rockford, so coming back to serve a small town was always my mission," he said. "I chose family medicine because I wanted to see and treat all ages. I love that we can serve patients from their newborn days to adulthood, as well as multiple members of the same family."

When not working, Dr. Wherley spends time with his wife, who is also an OSF physician, and their corgi, Gerri. He enjoys watching sports, and as a couple, they love to travel and spend time with friends and family.
