When did you join Illinois Neurological Institute?
2006 after completing the vascular neurology fellowship at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Why did you choose your specialty?
Stroke is dynamic and is cutting-edge. The disease affects so many people but we only recently have had treatment for it.
It’s a great feeling knowing that we can potentially help people afflicted by this disease that was previously so devastating.
Why did you choose Peoria, Illinois, to practice when you could have gone anywhere in the country?
We are aggressive and progressive here in regards to stroke. That’s a philosophy that doesn’t exist in many places. Had I gone elsewhere, I would have taken a step or two backwards professionally.
Do you have any advice to give your patients?
Know the symptoms of a stroke, teach them to your friends and family. If those symptoms occur, act quickly and call 9-1-1. We have treatments, but you have to seek help quickly. Every minute counts.
