Dr. Martin grew up in the small town of Flanagan, Illinois, where he developed his love of being a part of a community and forming lasting, meaningful bonds.
He pursued a career in medicine because he likes to be there when people most need him and to keep expanding his own knowledge and abilities.
"I was looking for a career where I could work with people and have a skillset that would be helpful particularly when people are most in need," he said. "Medicine has given me that opportunity allows me to always continue learning new things. With family medicine, I get to maintain a broad scope of practice. I love that I am able to see patients at all stages of life and talk to them about all aspects of their health."
The key to providing the best care, according to Dr. Martin, is hearing a patient's story and getting their perspective on their own life and health. He likes spending time getting to know his patients.
Dr. Martin is married to Maggie, whom he met during college, and the couple have three sons. His Catholic faith is very important to him and he is an active member of the church.
He is interested in astronomy and loves spending nights outside looking at the stars. He enjoys taking in the beauty of nature while hiking, biking or camping in the woods. He is also an avid reader.
