My philosophy of care as a surgeon is rooted in compassion, clinical excellence and patient-centered care. I strive to provide the highest quality surgical outcomes, prioritize clear communication and empower patients to make informed decisions for their health care
Ayana Worthey, MD, is a dedicated general surgeon with expertise in gastrointestinal surgery, minimally invasive techniques, bariatric surgery and gastrointestinal motility disorders. She is passionate about providing patient-centered, compassionate care and is committed to advancing surgical innovation.
Dr. Worthey was drawn to medicine by a deep desire to serve others, particularly underserved communities, and to advocate for equitable health care. She finds joy in the artistry of surgery, where she can relieve pain, restore function and even save lives.
Patients can expect respectful, dignified care, with the same attention and compassion she would give to her family.
Originally from Richton Park, Illinois, she is excited to join the Bloomington-Normal community, drawn to its balance of urban and small-town charm. She comes from a large closely-knit family with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. Outside of work, she enjoys reading medical thrillers, arts and crafts, and gardening.
Dr. Worthey looks forward to making a meaningful impact – both in the operating room and in the lives of her patients.
