My typical approach to care is collaborative. Getting to know the patient first is an important way to help understand the best way to educate and devise a treatment plan they are comfortable with.
Formerly a hospital-based nurse, Bethani is looking forward to this new opportunity seeing patients at OSF Medical Group – Primary Care and being part of their follow-up care.
"I want patients to feel comfortable with me and know that I truly feel their time is just as important as mine," she said. "I am there to serve them as their provider. What they have to say is important in treating them. Communication and conversation are key for proper care and treatment planning."
Bethani was drawn to a health care career while in high school when she earned her CNA and worked at a nursing home. She went on to be a medical office assistant before going to nursing school.
"I was a registered nurse for 18 years before going back to school to become a nurse practitioner," she said. "I knew I could offer so much more than what I was allowed as a registered nurse. Becoming a nurse practitioner opened up a wide range of opportunities to do more and provide a higher level of care to patients."
