Boubacar chose to work at OSF HealthCare following his graduation from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing because the culture and values align with his own and he wanted to continue being part of the OSF family. He gravitated toward a career in medicine because it was the best way to help others and make a positive impact.
“An appointment with me is like visiting an old friend who they have missed and have not seen for a long time,” he said. “The atmosphere will be open, welcoming and as stress free as possible. My job is, and will be, solely for the purpose of treating the patient holistically without any bias judgment about their conditions.”
He chose psychiatry as a specialty because psychiatric patients are among the most vulnerable in our communities. Boubacar truly believes in the motto "mind over body" because one needs a healthy mind to live a full, happy and satisfying life.
I listen, understand and empathize before diagnosing the patient and formulating a treatment plan. I treat all of the patient’s symptoms and not just bits and parts.
