Dr. Castro is a dedicated neurosurgeon who came to OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center through a collaboration with the UIC Department of Neurosurgery. She is excited about the opportunity to grow the neurosurgery program in the Rockford community. Together with Dr. Markus Chwajol, Dr. Castro has established a neurosurgery clinic that operates five days a week to support the local community.

Dr. Castro’s interest in neurosurgery began when her father, a police officer, was injured while on duty and required spine surgery. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in medicine, and she continues to be passionate about neurosurgical care. Patients can expect personalized care and a thorough understanding of their condition when meeting with Dr. Castro. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, spending time with her supportive husband and two young daughters, and was formerly a competitive dancer and ballerina.
