I believe patient care is individualized for each patient. I view myself as a teacher, coach and teammate in providing a unique patient care experience. Ultimately, parents know their children best, so I promote shared decision-making.
Dr. Wakid grew up in Goodfield, Illinois, a small community near Peoria, and believes he is where he belongs.
"I work for OSF HealthCare because I believe in the Mission of serving the people of Central Illinois with the love of Jesus Christ," Dr. Wakid said. “I grew up as a patient at OSF Morton Pediatrics, and I am now honored and privileged to lead this group that once helped raise me.”
Dr. Wakid sees the patient-physician relationship as shared decision-making and mutual respect.
“Pediatrics is all about the children and their families. It’s about building relationships. Seeing them grow and change. It’s fun and so rewarding to help care for the next generation,” Dr. Wakid said.
He is married to Stephanie, and they have two children, Eden and Elijah. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, attending church, camping, hiking, traveling, running, playing guitar and cheering on the Chicago Bears.
