Danielle "Dani" Beer calls Bloomington-Normal home after moving there from Michigan with her family when she was 4 years old. "I've enjoyed growing up in Bloomington-Normal. It's a great environment to raise my own two children," she said.
The decision to go into medicine was influenced by Dani's mom. "She was an open heart nurse for most of my life and I remember watching open heart videos with her when I was 5 and loving it," she said. "I think the draw for me is that I like to help people, and for me there is no better way than through practicing medicine."
Dani specializes in orthopedics. "It's something I've always enjoyed," she said. "There is something about muscles and bones and how they work that fascinates me."
She employs a patient-centered approach to care. "I love to hear what patients have to say about what has and has not worked for them and use that to formulate a treatment plan that will be beneficial to them," Dani said. "I realize no one likes to come to see the doctor, but I hope that a visit with me is a productive and enjoyable experience."
Working for OSF HealthCare is a good fit for Dani as she appreciates the patient-oriented culture. "I love the team work and my peers are fantastic to work with," she said.
Dani is married with "two adorable boys and two fur babies – Cleo and Rajah."
When she's not working, Dani likes to exercise with her husband, watch movies and hang out with her family.
