Biography

As fourth generation nurse, Darlene Esken, APN, FNP-C, chose family medicine because she enjoys caring for people at all stages of life and wellness.

Her mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother were all nurses before her and inspired her career in health care.

A native of Central Illinois, Darlene graduated from Metamora High School before earning her bachelor's and master's degrees from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing.

Darlene is married with two children.

This was my first time meeting and getting care from NP Esken. She had taken time to look over my chart and go over my history with me. She took the time to listen and ask relevant questions. She was very kind and an excellent listener. My last NP left OSF and I was very nervous about finding a new NP that I would like as much. NP Esken immediately put me at ease and was very easy to talk to. She is excellent and I would recommend her to anyone. She was able to correctly diagnose my issues and prescribe the proper medication. She is a great provider.

Darlene is the best. She fully explains the concepts we are discussing and is a great partner in helping me figure out how to achieve my health goals. What I appreciate most is that she never judges or makes me feel bad if I am not quite where I want to be with my health goals (usually diet related). She is very encouraging and supportive and makes me feel like she really cares about the things I care about. I really appreciate Darlene.
