Dr. Crawford relishes being a surgeon because of the direct role it gives him in doing God's work in healing others. He understands that people who are about to have surgery are nervous, so he tries to call his patients the night before their scheduled operation to make sure they don't have any unanswered questions. A native of Indianapolis, Dr. Crawford went to medical school in Louisville, Kentucky, did his general surgery residency in Philadelphia and his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery in Los Angeles. But he loves Peoria, especially its mix of big city amenities with small town values and personalities. As a youth, Dr. Crawford achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and he remains involved with Scouting as the father of three daughters. He has been a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and just started leading his youngest daughter's Cub Scout pack. He enjoys history, travel and spending time outdoors.
