What medical change has impacted your specialty the most since you began practicing medicine?
Genetic testing
Why did you choose your specialty?
One of my mentors worked with ALS patients. I watched how he interacted with patients and realized what a difference the right approach with people can make in their quality of life.
Why did you choose Peoria, Illinois, to practice when you could have gone anywhere in the country?
I chose Peoria because I wanted to live someplace with an outstanding medical community that would also allow me to teach and mentor future medical professionals.
Do you have any advice to give your patients?
When going to see a specialist, always take your list of medications. This simple step is so important to your care.
