I view the provider-patient relationship as a team. We work together to set health goals and devise a plan to achieve them.
The care provided to her ill grandmother inspired Heather to become a nurse. If not for that, you might be making an appointment with her to have your taxes prepared.
"I initially went to school for accounting," she said. "But my grandmother became sick, and I could see how the nurses and doctors cared for her in the hospital. That changed my mind."
Heather has worked in the emergency department for most of her career. Switching to primary care allows her to see the other end of health care, managing conditions and offering preventive solutions.
Heather is married with four children and two grandchildren. She likes to spend time with family and do crafts.
