Dr. Ahmed understands cancer is scary. He wants to help ease your fears.
“I am here to help,” he said. “A diagnosis like this is overwhelming. I always try my best to make sure your concerns are addressed and that we are on the same page in terms of treatment.”
Dr. Ahmed was born in Pakistan, but spent most of his early life in New York City. His interest in the sciences started when he attended a specialized science high school and continued through his undergraduate studies when he majored in molecular biology, biochemistry and molecular biophysics.
“Some of the most exciting things about studying these fields were the possibilities for how they translated into cures for diseases,” he said.
On a mission trip to Honduras Dr. Ahmed became interested in surgery of the head and neck and otolaryngology, which focuses on the ears, nose and throat.
“Diseases of the head and neck can affect a person’s quality of life deeply, and treating them successfully is very gratifying,” he said.
He loves to be working alongside a talented team of surgeons and cancer specialists at OSF HealthCare.
