My approach to patient care is to treat the patient as a whole and strive to find the appropriate treatment plan for each person.
As she puts it, Dr. Schmidt "grew up a little bit everywhere," which included stops in Colorado, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Illinois during her childhood. She was always interested in science and helping people, which made a career in medicine a perfect fit for her.
The opportunity to use her hands to alleviate the ailments of others made surgery especially appealing to her sensibilities.
Dr. Schmidt believes that every patient deserves to quality care and she makes it a priority to take her time with each patient, no matter how busy her schedule may be.
"In my appointments I strive to make the patient feel like they have been heard and not rushed through a consultation," Dr. Schmidt said.
In her free time, she likes to hike, kayak and read. When she gets the chance, she likes to play tennis, too.
