Educating patients to allow them to fully understand and make informed decisions regarding their care and respecting those decisions.
Kayla chose to work at OSF HealthCare because she wanted to work with a team who respects individuals for who they are as a whole person and treats them with compassion and love. Growing up in the area, she is also excited to be a member of the local community.
“During an appointment with me, I start by asking the patients what questions they have for me,” she said. “I use those questions to guide our discussion and focus on alleviating the worries right away. After thorough discussions, I hope that my patients will leave my office with a greater understanding of the disease that we are treating.”
Kayla knew she wanted a career in the medical field because it combines her two greatest interests – science and caring for people. There is gratification in knowing that you were able to help someone to better their health. It is truly rewarding and an honor to be able to see the changes in patients’ lives.
Kayla and her husband have two children and a dog who keep them busy. In her free time, she enjoys being outside in the fresh air.
