A native of Michigan, Dr. Keirsten Smith returned to her home state with a deep desire to serve the local community.

"I simply love to serve others and medicine provides that opportunity in countless ways," she said.

Dr. Smith's decision to pursue family medicine springs from her passion for connecting with families across the generations. She opted to specialize in sports medicine, too, because she relishes the challenge of getting athletes back into the game as quickly and safely as possible after an injury.

"When patients come to me, I want them to know I am listening to them," she said. "I listen with a non-judgmental ear and include patients in the decision-making process, giving them options to choose what fits their personal goals. I try to treat them as if they were my own family members."

When not in the office, Keirsten loves spending time in the great outdoors, whether hiking in the woods or being on the water. She also enjoys both watching and playing a wide variety of sports. She and her husband, who is also a family physician, have two sons and one daughter.
