As a certified nurse midwife, I want to develop relationships with my patients. I want us to work together to determine what is best for their health. I want my patients to feel heard and to be involved in their treatment plan.
The Champaign-Urbana area is home to Kelli Daugherty. She grew up here and is happy to be practicing in her hometown.
Patients are number one in her book. "I never rush my patients out of the exam room," she said. "If you still have questions, I will stay as long as it takes to get them answered."
Women's reproductive health became an interest early on in Kelli's life. She thought she'd be a doctor but soon realized nursing was where she should be.
"I really love to spend time with my patients, and nursing allows me to do that," she said.
Kelli is a self-described theater nerd and sees as many shows as possible. As a result, her Spotify playlist is mostly Broadway cast recordings.
