Dr. Teverbaugh grew up in a small Illinois farm town, so the Ottawa community makes her feel right at home.
She wanted a career in health care because, in general, she wanted to make a difference. Personal circumstances helped drive her to pursue her goals, too.
"I became interested in medicine when women in my family were battling cancers and autoimmune disorders," she said.
Dr. Teverbaugh was drawn to obstetrics and gynecology because of the opportunity to care for women of all ages and to help bring new life into the world. Her approach to patient care is simple and a classic example of the golden rule.
"I try to treat patients how I would want to be treated and be a good listener," she said.
Her husband, Chad, makes custom woodwork, and the couple have a son, Ian. They also have two German shepherds and a puggle.
She likes art, reading, and outdoor activities like hiking, boating, camping and fishing with her family. She enjoys participating in fundraisers for local organizations.
