Biography

A love of science and fixing problems is what drew Dr. Nagel to a career in medicine. As a high school student, she babysat a child with cancer and that sparked her interest in pediatric hematology/oncology.

As a believer in building relationships, Dr. Nagel loves getting to know her new patients.

“We talk about everything from coloring to favorite princesses and sports teams, even what they happen to have on their shirt that day,” she said. “I also try to put myself in the parents’ shoes. I have two young children and I know how I would feel if our roles were reversed.”

Dr. Nagel grew up in Bloomington-Normal and received her undergraduate degree at Illinois State University. She and her family love biking the Rock Island Trail and are fans of the Chicago White Sox and Bears.
