Dr. Matthew Stier is a board-certified gastroenterologist who joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2019. He earned his undergraduate degree in pharmaceutical science at Purdue University and graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at the University of Chicago, serving as chief fellow from 2017-2018.
Dr. Stier has presented research on Barrett’s esophagus and advanced polypectomy techniques at regional and national meetings and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. Although Dr. Stier is well trained in the broad disciplines of gastroenterology, hepatology and clinical nutrition, he has special interests in Barrett’s esophagus, improving quality in colorectal cancer screening, liver disease and the management of inflammatory bowel disease.
