My approach is to serve with the greatest care and love, to provide empathy and compassion to everyone for the well-being of my patients.
For Melyssa, medicine is personal. She became interested in the field of study when a good friend was in a car accident.
“While he was in the hospital I was fascinated by the providers and teams that cared for him,” she said. “It really made me realize that this is what I wanted to do. I dropped everything and went back to school and haven’t looked back.”
Melyssa is happy to be at OSF HealthCare where she feels very aligned with the Mission and Vision of the Sisters. Her mother has also worked at OSF for decades and she has always admired the work atmosphere and opportunities offered.
Melyssa always has an ear for listening and feels communication is important when meeting with her patients.
“I want patients to know that I will advocate for them,” she said. “I will listen, I will answer questions and help them become as healthy as they can be.”
When not at work, Melyssa enjoys rock climbing, running, reading, baking and fishing. She is married with two children and two dogs.
