Why did you choose to specialize in pediatrics?
Since the time I was in college, I felt a calling to care for sick children.
Why do you enjoy most about being a physician at OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois?
Being part of a solid, medical community at a premiere children's hospital.
Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I come from a large, Sicilian family that settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the early 1900's. I love homemade Italian food.
What is the most important thing you have learned from a patient or family?
From all of my patients, I have learned that our patients don't choose to be ill, but I do choose to help them become well. I try to live by that thought every day.
Tell us a little about your family life.
I am married to my wonderful wife, Julie, and we have three children, Sophia, Mary and Dominic.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of medicine?
I am a fitness buff. I enjoy cycling and golfing and I have an extensive collection of pens.
