I view the patient-physician relationship as a unique trust, one whose responsibility is as humbling as its possibilities are inspiring. Where a cure cannot be achieved, comfort and care can always be offered.
Dr. Wingo was born in Frankfurt, Germany, grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and eventually settled in the Midwest "because of the less hectic and crowded way of life."
"I honestly cannot remember a time where I wanted to be anything else but a doctor," Dr. Wingo said. "Some of the first books I remember reading were biographies of famous physicians and scientists. The attraction seemed to be the possibility of producing a tangible benefit to others through the application of your own effort and intellect."
He chose cardiology as a specialty because of the array of proven, beneficial therapies that were available. Since then, that box of tools has grown even larger.
"Patients should know that their appointment and our discussion will be about more than symptoms and problems, and the recommendations I make are likely to go beyond prescriptions and tests alone," Dr. Wingo said.
He is married and is a father to four grown children. He enjoys literature, movies, chess and cycling. He has also been coaching youth soccer for more than 20 years, with dozens of his players having gone on to play in college and the pros.
