My philosophy of care is rooted in God's love, ensuring that each patient is treated with compassion and dignity. I combine this compassionate approach with evidence-based practices, delivering the highest standard of care tailored to everyone’s needs and grounded in the latest medical research.
Paul Kang, PA, is a dedicated physician assistant in cardiothoracic surgery, driven by a passion for helping others. He chose to work at OSF HealthCare because of its Mission to treat patients with God's love, providing care with the same compassion and dedication that Jesus showed in serving others.
Paul is excited about collaborating with a skilled team and using state-of-the-art technology to provide advanced care. He loves the strong sense of connection and support in the local community, where people genuinely care for one another. Paul looks forward to contributing to the health and vitality of the area through his work.
During appointments, Paul is thorough and focused on evidence-based care. He takes the time to listen to his patients' concerns, gathers a detailed medical history, and conducts a comprehensive physical examination. His goal is to work collaboratively with patients, ensuring they feel informed, supported and confident in their treatment plans, providing clear explanations and involving them in every step of their care.
Paul's interest in surgery began early, and he has spent over ten years in the field. The complexity and precision required in cardiothoracic surgery, along with the opportunity to make a tangible difference in patients' lives, continue to fuel his dedication.
Paul got married four years ago, and he and his wife are thrilled to be expecting their first child. His family has always been a big source of support for him. His brother, who served as a Marine in Iraq, now works as a police officer in Duluth, Georgia. His sister is following her passion for medicine and applying to medical school. They’re a close-knit family, and Paul is proud of the paths they've all taken.
In his free time, Paul volunteers at Champaign New Life Korean Church, translating Korean sermons into English and serving on the management team. He recently completed research on the efficacy of VV ECMO in COVID-19 patients, deepening his understanding of advanced critical care.
