My approach to patient care is to get to know the patient, their values, and goals and work together to create a treatment plan using evidence-based practice.
Dr. Patel strives to form long-lasting relationships with her patients and believes in a team approach to medical treatment. She takes her time explaining complex disease processes in a way that is easy to understand and always welcome questions.
"I went into medicine largely because of my father," she said. "As a physician himself, I was fascinated by his ability to connect with others and help the community, and I have always wanted to follow in his footsteps."
Dr. Patel grew up in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a town very similar in size to Peoria. She attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in human biology. After medical school, she moved to Peoria and completed her chief residency and fellowship. She joined OSF HealthCare as an attending physician after her training.
In her free time, Dr. Patel enjoys exercising, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She's married to Dr. Jaymon Patel, a local gastroenterologist, and they have two children.
