Before joining OSF Saint James in 2005, Rick Saylor was program director of one of three current United States Air Force Orthopaedic physician assistant fellowships.
"I was born into the OSF family…literally, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. I still have family nearby, one of the reasons for settling in Pontiac when I left the Air Force. While serving, I was stationed in England, Germany, Texas, Nebraska, Maryland and Ohio.
The role of a physician assistant is to work directly with the physician as a team player. Besides assisting during surgery, that means I also see patients in the office, take Emergency Department call and make rounds in the hospital. I really enjoy the hands-on nature of the practice.
My wife, Tina, and I have three grown sons. I enjoy quiet activities such as working on my home and garden. I’ve done a lot of traveling in the past, so that isn’t a priority."
