It's important to put patients at ease and help them to understand their diagnosis and to discuss management and treatment options that are best suited to them in a simple, easy to understand manner.
Dr. Garg's personal mission resonates closely with that of the OSF HealthCare Mission to serve with the greatest care and love.
"We have a very close knit, multicultural community in need of health care that can be provided near the comfort of their homes," she said.
Dr. Garg decided to pursue medicine, and specialize in cancer care, after seeing a young woman in her 20s diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Seeing her and her family go through that ordeal … cancer not only affects the patient, but it affects their whole family," she said. "I am very passionate about providing the best treatment for my patients and helping them and their families get through the difficult times."
Dr. Garg is married to a cardiologist and their son and daughter are both pursuing careers in medicine. She enjoys volunteering and participating in community activities to teach the significance of cancer screening and prevention.
