“I genuinely love having a positive impact on people's lives. I love to teach and motivate patients and empower them to take an active role in their own healthcare.”
Shawna chose OSF HealthCare for its friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to assist in bariatric surgery.
“I love helping patients in their weight loss journey, not only from a medical perspective, but also a motivational one,” she said.
Inspired by personal experiences, Shawna entered medicine after the loss of her niece, finding fulfillment in nursing. Specializing in weight loss, Shawna empathizes with patients, having faced similar struggles herself.
“I feel like this is a population of people who are often judged negatively and misunderstood,” she said. “I want to be a positive light in their lives and help them succeed in their weight loss journey.”
Outside of work, Shawna enjoys rescuing dogs, gardening and embracing the outdoors
