Dr. Sumeet Tewani is a board-certified gastroenterologist who joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2014. He earned his medical degree from Boston University and completed his residency, gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy fellowships at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, where he served as chief fellow.
Dr. Tewani has advanced training in interventional endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, endoscopic ultrasound with fine-needle aspiration, endoscopic mucosal resection and radiofrequency ablation. His research has been published in leading medical journals, and he has presented at national and international conferences.
Dr. Tewani is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford and serves on the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Health and Public Policy Committee, advocating for patients on a national level.
He enjoys hockey, Boston sports, South Asian culture and spending time with family.
