Dr. Sunil Patel is a board-certified gastroenterologist who joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates (RGA) in 2010. He completed his medical degree at New Jersey Medical School, followed by a residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School and a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
As director of the RGA Research Division, Dr. Patel conducts and publishes clinical research on irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, constipation, hepatitis C and colon cancer prevention. In 2015, he introduced RGA’s fecal transplant program, bringing this innovative therapy to the Rockford area.
Dr. Patel’s expertise spans the full spectrum of gastroenterology and hepatology. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he teaches medical students, and he is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
