There is so much more involved in patient care than providing a prescription. Learning to listen, asking the right questions and considering the patient's perspective is key. Above all, I treat my patients the same way I want my own family treated.
Dr. Childers grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth region in Texas. Before coming to OSF HealthCare, she practiced for about 20 years in a rural community east of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She has always been a bit of a science nerd with a heart to help others, and these traits drew her to a career in medicine. During medical school, she quickly discovered a passion for the field of ENT, and her appreciation grew from there.
"I love that I am able to treat patients of all ages, and the diversity within the specialty is broad for such a small anatomic area," Dr. Childers said. "My motto is to treat my patients as I want my own family treated. Not only do I enjoy listening, but I also try to focus on education. Many of the conditions I treat are related to chronic underlying factors, and when patients are able to see that, they can reap significant benefits."
Dr. Childers has two daughters, with whom she shares a love of photography, art, traveling and singing together. She has also been an active participant in community theater productions for several years.
