Dr. Somaraju believes she’s right where she should be. She loves the cultural diversity in the Rockford community.
“I believe diversity builds great relationships that foster partnerships and collaborations that will add value to humanity,” she said.
The idea to become a doctor came to her early in life. Dr. Somaraju became fascinated by the human body in grade school science class.
“My turning point to pursue medicine was when a close friend was hospitalized with Leukemia,” she said. “I was impressed by the compassion and team work needed to care for my friend.”
When working with patients she likes to establish mutual respect and trust.
“My goal is to help patients understand how their sickness or treatment will affect their lives,” Dr. Somaraju said. “I am a good listener and believe communication is the cornerstone in connecting with patients.”
