I value listening to my patient's concerns and formulating a plan together. I believe in a doctor-patient partnership with shared decision-making to achieve better health.
Dr. Vijayasree Paleru grew up in a small town in southern India as one of two children of two teachers.
"When I was a child, I was really impressed by my small-town doctor who diagnosed me with appendicitis and saved my life," Dr. Paleru said. "After that, I dreamed about becoming a doctor. I was the first female from my town to get into medical school."
To her, OSF HealthCare shared values she believes are important in health care. "The OSF Mission to serve 'with the greatest care and love' encapsulates one of my major goals as a physician: to better the lives of those in my community," Dr. Paleru said.
A wife and mother of two children, Dr. Paleru enjoys sightseeing, bicycling and spending time with family and friends. She also gives talks to the community to promote healthy lifestyles and increase awareness of cardiovascular diseases.
