My goal is to see each patient as a unique and important person and to work together to meet their health care needs.
Wendy Frye, MD, is passionate about making lives better. She chose OSF HealthCare because of its inspiring Mission, and she is thrilled to work in an operating room and clinic where teamwork is essential for providing excellent, efficient and compassionate care.
Wendy's journey into medicine began at Northern Michigan University where an advisor noticed her interest in science. Intrigued by the service aspect, challenges and continuous learning available in health care, she ultimately decided to become a surgeon.
Specializing in general surgery, Wendy takes joy in the hands-on nature of her work as she diagnoses and solves problems every day. She commonly treats conditions like gallbladder disease, breast issues and cancer, hernias, acid reflux, skin lesions and colon problems, such as diverticulitis and colon cancer. In her conversations with patients, she respects their unique situations and is mindful of their time.
Originally from the Upper Peninsula, Wendy looks forward to exploring the lakeshore, fishing and finding new running trails in the local community. Other outdoor activities she loves include biking, cross-country skiing and gardening. She also enjoys supporting land conservation and trail organizations.
