Born in Delhi, Yogesh was raised in Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, India. His father was a mining engineer and his family moved often, living in many different small towns and cities. Yogesh moved to Delhi to attend high school and stayed there for medical school.  Yogesh’s father had high aspirations for his son and encouraged him to consider a career in medicine.   He believed physicians are in a unique position to do tremendous good for people while making a good living.   Yogesh followed his father’s advice.   While in medical school, he found cardiology of particular interest. Then, while in his third year, his father had a near fatal heart attack which finalized Yogesh’s decision to pursue a career in cardiology.  During his educational years, Dr. Agarwal was recognized for achievements.   He was awarded the R. Ramanujan award by Delhi University for being the top in his medical class.   During residency and fellowship, he was acknowledged as “best resident” two years in a row.   After completion of cardiology fellowship, Dr. Agarwal worked at Marion VA Medical Center and was awarded the Secretary’s “Hands on Heart” award for outstanding contribution to the care of veterans. Since joining HeartCare Midwest, Dr. Yogesh enjoys living near his brother, also an OSF physician, and his family.   He has many interests outside the field of medicine including reading, gardening, and the arts.   He enjoys learning new skills and working with his hands to create something beautiful and unique.
